Welcome to Hiro Katsumata's personal website! I am an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of International and Cultural Studies, Tohoku University (Japan). In 2003, I defended my Ph.D. thesis at the University of Birmingham (UK), and joined the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). I was at the University of Bristol (UK) (from 2007 to 2009), at the Waseda University Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (Japan) (from 2009 to 2013), and at Kanazawa University (Japan) (from 2013 to 2015). I specialize in ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regionalism. I am the author of ASEAN's Cooperative Security Enterprise: Norms and Interests in the ASEAN Regional Forum (London/Basingstoke: Palgrave MacMillan, 2009). I have written articles in journals such as The Pacific Review and Review of International Studies.
